George Herman Wise Papers 1966 - 1975

The George Herman Wise papers contain correspondence and paperwork regarding Wise's 1966 - 1967 request for a leave of absence for professional growth. Also included is a 1975 letter from Wise to Iowa State University President Emeritus Dr. J. H. Hilton requesting information on the William Neal Reynolds Professorship at North Carolina State University. Before moving to Iowa, Hilton was the dean of the School of Agriculture at N.C. State. George Herman Wise (1908 - ) was a William Neal Reynolds Professor of Nutritional Biochemistry at North Carolina State University. Wise received his bachelor's degree from Clemson College in 1930. He then received a master's degree (1932) and Ph.D. (1936) from the University of Minnesota. He began his career at N.C. State in 1948 as a professor of animal industry and the head of the animal nutrition section. Wise received the American Feed Manufacturers Award in 1948 and the Borden Award in 1949. He belonged to several professional organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Society of Animal Production, and the American Dairy Science Association, and Sigma Xi.
